Four Layer Pistacio Pudding Dessert
This recipe is so, so, so, so good. I have made this for several family gatherings and everyone devours it. If you have to make a dessert for a gathering and don't want to have to take any home after it is over, then make this. I have also made another version of this that we call "preacher pie" where you replace the pistacio pudding with a layer of vanilla and a layer of chocolate pudding. (Just be sure to make a thicker version of the pudding than the normal recipe on the box.) They are both divine. The preacher pie has won in my family's dessert contest. This dessert is light and the combination of textures makes it so perfect. I could eat an entire pan of this stuff. - Make it in a bigger pan than the one in the pic. I really can't say enough about this recipe. If you make it, you can bring me half the pan :)
Ingredients
1st Layer
1 cup flour
1/2 cup butter
2tbsp sugar
1/4 cup chopped nuts
2nd Layer
1 cup powder sugar
1/2 of a 9 oz. container of Kool whip (I use a full container)
1 8 oz. cream cheese(softened)
3rd Layer
3 3/4 cups milk
3 3 oz. pkg instant pistachio pudding
1/4 tsp almond flavoring
4th Layer
Kool whip
nuts (I toast them, and I usually use almonds.)
How to make it
Mix first layer ingredients together.
Press into a 9 x 13 pan.
Bake at 350* for 13-15 min.
Let cool completley.
Whip second layer ingredients together and spread over crust
Beat third layer ingredients and spread over cheese layer.
Spread on rest of Kool whip.
Sprinkle with a few nuts.
This makes your fourth and final layer.
Enjoy!
